Early in the morning, a service technician is ready to respond to a fault report at a customer’s site. He needs access to a technical room on location. He takes the key he needs… only to find that it has not yet been returned. The list shows who had it last, but it takes several minutes to actually get hold of the key. Minutes you simply don’t have when a customer is relying on you during a breakdown.
This started happening more and more often at Leertouwer, a system integrator in electrical engineering, climate installations and ICT. Growth in customers, projects and technicians meant more keys in circulation, making manual key management increasingly vulnerable. Leertouwer therefore looked for a way to make this process safer, clearer and less error-prone.
To reduce these risks, Leertouwer looked for a solution that was less dependent on manual registration and human action. They chose the KeyConductor: a secure, automated key cabinet from Nauta Connect. As Leertouwer grew, so did the number of keys. The KeyConductor is now the fixed, central point for all key distribution. Technicians log in with their access tag, take the correct key that the system automatically releases, and the system records everything automatically.
The paper list has disappeared. Keys are issued and returned securely, fully logged and without manual administration. Thanks to its modular design, the cabinet easily grows along with Leertouwer.

It’s important that keys are issued safely and in a controlled way, and that you always know who has them.
— Rijk de Jong, Account Manager at Leertouwer
Always full overview and control
Faster response in urgent situations
No more searching for keys
Less administrative work
Less time spent on key issuance
Safe and reliable key management
With the KeyConductor, Leertouwer now works more safely, clearly and efficiently. Technicians can work independently and critical keys remain better protected.
“We wanted a solution that is reliable and fits our way of working. The implementation was quick, the training was clear and the system is very easy to use. You create users, assign roles and you’re done. The logging function is especially useful. We really feel fully supported.”
— Rijk de Jong, Account Manager at Leertouwer
The KeyConductor works well for Leertouwer, but is just as suitable for other organizations that manage access to customer sites, technical rooms or installations — from engineering and logistics to healthcare and the public sector.
